What Do We Clean?

Clean windows significantly impact the visual impression of a commercial premises. Research by the British Institute of Cleaning Science found that 52% of customers associate dirty windows with poor general standards of hygiene and management. Our window cleaning scope includes:

  • Exterior windows (up to 5 storeys via water-fed pole systems)
  • Interior glass partitions, office windows, and meeting room glass
  • Shopfront and display glass - street-level and internal
  • Glass entry doors and automatic door panels
  • Skylights (accessible from roof level)
  • Window frames, sills, and tracks
  • Glass balustrades and pool fencing
  • Sticker, tape, and overspray removal from glass

Water-Fed Pole Systems for External Cleaning

For exterior windows up to approximately 15 metres (5 storeys), we use water-fed pole (WFP) systems with pure water filtration. Tap water is passed through reverse osmosis and deionisation filters to remove all dissolved minerals - the resulting pure water (0 ppm total dissolved solids) cleans glass and dries spot-free without any chemical residue. This method is significantly safer than traditional ladder-based cleaning for multi-storey work, and produces a superior streak-free result because there is no product left behind to attract dust.

For buildings exceeding the WFP reach, or where building geometry makes pole access impractical, we quote rope access or elevated work platform (EWP) methods. These require additional planning and SWMS documentation in accordance with Victorian WHS Regulations 2017 - Schedule 8.

Interior Glass and Partition Cleaning

Interior glass - office partitions, meeting room walls, display cases, reception screens - is cleaned using traditional squeegee and microfibre techniques with a commercial glass cleaning solution. Our interior window cleaning staff carry anti-smear applicators, professional squeegees, and extension poles for high-reach interior glass up to approximately 4 metres.

For streak-free results, we always clean glass in a controlled direction - top to bottom on exterior, left to right on interior - and finish with a dry microfibre edge wipe to remove all watermarks. Interior glass in healthcare or food areas is cleaned with TGA-approved glass products where appropriate.

Window frame and track cleaning is included as standard - frames are wiped, and tracks are vacuumed and wiped out to remove accumulated dust and debris that causes windows to stick or corrode over time.

Recommended Cleaning Frequency

Window cleaning frequency depends on the building's environment, location, and visibility. As a general guide: high-street shopfronts and building entries - monthly; standard office building exteriors - quarterly; industrial or lower-visibility areas - biannually. Melbourne's wet winters and dusty summer conditions mean exterior windows in prominent locations typically require more frequent cleaning than this guide suggests. We can schedule one-off cleans or set up a regular programme with automated reminders.

Frequently Asked Questions

How high can you clean windows?
Using water-fed pole (WFP) systems, we can reach up to approximately 15 metres (4–5 storeys) without ladders or elevated equipment. For buildings above this height, we quote rope access or EWP methods with appropriate SWMS documentation. All work at heights above 2 metres is governed by our WHS-compliant Safe Work Method Statement, which is available for review upon request.
Do water-fed pole systems leave streaks?
No - this is the primary advantage of pure water WFP systems. Tap water contains dissolved minerals (calcium, magnesium) that leave white deposits when water evaporates. Our pure water systems filter tap water to 0 ppm total dissolved solids using reverse osmosis and DI resin, so when the water evaporates it leaves nothing behind. The result is streak- and spot-free glass that stays cleaner longer because there is no product residue to attract dust.
How often should commercial windows be cleaned?
As a guide: high-street and high-visibility shopfronts monthly; general office exteriors quarterly; industrial and lower-visibility areas biannually. Interior glass should be cleaned monthly in most office environments - internal glass accumulates fingerprints, dust, and splash marks quickly in high-use spaces like reception areas and meeting rooms.
Can you remove stickers and adhesive residue from glass?
Yes. We remove stickers, printed film, tape residue, silicone, paint overspray, and hard water mineral deposits from glass using appropriate solvents and plastic scrapers (steel blades are not used on toughened or coated glass). We inspect glass before removal and advise if there is any risk of damage to coatings - some films, in particular, require specialist removal techniques.
